My first iPhone sighting….

July 9, 2007

….took place last week. I was at one of those networking lunches, where no one knew anyone else before they walked in. I was second to arrive and while making small talk I noticed my tablemate’s iPhone. Needless to say she was like the first kid in class with the cool toy.
She reported the following:
  • It was quite the attention getter
  • Navigated easily
  • Web browsing was easy and fun
  • Content surprisingly easy to access
  • Keypad worked well
  • She loved it…..except….
It would not synche up with her calendar, as well as several of her phonebook entries. And this lady is a one-person commercial real estate company, so she needed both.
Yes, she’d been on the phone to Apple customer service; very friendly, but nothing was working. After lunch she was going to give it one more try with the service people. If she didn’t succeed there, the phone was going back. And she’d go back to her Treo, which she loved.
Conclusions? I’m glad I opted not to be an early adopter. I’ll wait a generation or two.
Anyone else having a first-person iPhone story?
